The academy in numbers

Since its inception in 2011, Media Academy Iraq (MAI) has trained thousands of Iraqi journalists. Every year, MAI organizes dozens of courses in all different areas of Iraq. Between 2011 and 2015 alone, Media Academy Iraq provided 837 days of training in 25 cities across the country.


At least 2152 Iraqis took part in 231 training workshops in four years. Some courses are open to the public; others are tailor-made for NGOs, media outlets, advocacy groups, government departments or private sector media personnel.


In 2017 alone, Media Academy Iraq trained more than 1370 participants in over 20 Iraqi locations. At least 75 courses were conducted in the last 12 months.
